Having lived in Thailand on and off over the last few years, Bangkok is always one of those cities that we keep frequenting. During this period, we’ve been lucky enough to stay in some pretty amazing hotels. Although the quality and views of each place are unique, the staff in Eastin Grand Sathorn made our stay so memorable that it will immediately be one of our top picks when deciding where to stay in Bangkok.

From the moment we arrived, the staff all went above and beyond to help us out. From helping us recover lost luggage, welcoming us to the Club Lounge, all the way down to surprising Tom with a handwritten note and cake for his birthday.

If you’re looking for a hotel where you can experience true Thai hospitality, this is where you go.

Eastin Grand Sathorn

Conveniently located in the trendy business district of Sathorn, a stone throw away from the famous Chao Phraya River, The Eastin Grand is a great place to stay if you want easy access to the city. One of the best things about it is that it is the only hotel in Bangkok which has direct access to the BTS Skytrain (Sarusak Station).

And if you know what Bangkok traffic is like, trust me, this is a godsend! The lobby is modestly decorated but the views from the pool, the rooms, and the Club Lounge are nothing short of impressive. bangkok skyline

The Rooms

During our stay there, we got to experience to types of rooms. The Executive Superior Sky Room and the Executive Deluxe.

The Executive Superior Sky Rooms are simlar to most of the rooms they have except as noted by the name, they are located higher up, allowing you to enjoy epic views of the famous Bangkok skyline, from the comfort of your own room.

We opted for the Executive Superior Sky Room mainly because it also gives you Lounge Access which really makes a world of a difference. It was our last few nights in the city and we had a lot of work to wrap up so having a space where we could work was essential.

The Executive Lounge serves complimentary tea, coffee, non-alcoholic drinks and snacks which is available throughout the day. However, our favorite part was the open bar serving unlimited beverages and hors d’oeuvres on a daily basis.

Imagine enjoying free happy hour cocktails while gazing out at the stunning skyline…on a daily basis? We loved it and the lounge access that comes with the Executive Superior Room alone is worth the upgrade.

For Tom’s birthday, we decided to splash out a little bit so we moved to the Executive Deluxe Room which quite frankly, just blew us away! Everything about the room was beautiful. From the large couch where you could sit and look out at the busy city or to the large tub inside the bathroom.

Out of the many hotels we’ve stayed at in Bangkok, this one was one of our favorites. Everything about the room was so well designed- including the corner office nook which is perfect for business people.

The Food and Amenities

Every morning, we would head up to the Executive Lounge for our breakfast. Located on the top floor, the views up here was fantastic. The breakfast was delicious, serving a variety of hot and cold items. Their eggs benedict which you can order by demand was so good that we had it almost every day!

However, the highlight of the breakfast buffet was always the variety of healthy juices that they served fresh daily. One day it was an apple, orange, and beetroot. The next it would be a green juice of apples, celery, and kiwi.

In the late evenings, we would head back up to the Lounge to unwind with a few cocktails and to enjoy the delicious spread of cheese, charcuterie, and other light snacks.

During our time there, as we were in “work mode”, we really got A LOT of their food in the hotel as we were availing of room service, breakfast, and more. Everything that we had was delicious which is why we didn’t bother trying other places during the day and only really ventured out in the evenings.

pad-thai

In the three days we were there, it almost became a ritual. Breakfast, gym, pool, and work! Since we’ve seen and explored the city many times over, we just wanted a place to escape, relax, and get some work done and our stay in Eastin Grand was just that and more.

The infinity pool overlooking the towering buildings is another great spot to enjoy. Although it gets quite busy, the crowd thins out in the middle of the day and early mornings.

The Hospitality

As mentioned, the one thing that would keep us coming back here would be the hospitality of the staff! Everyone was incredibly helpful, especially the team at the Executive Lounge. They had really gone above and beyond to help us throughout our stay from helping us call our previous landlord (who only spoke Thai) to arranging Tom’s birthday surprise.

While most hotel chains usually lack personality, Eastin Grand was the complete opposite experience for us, mainly because of the warm, friendly service staff.

Overall Impression

Overall, we were impressed by the hotel and would stay again in a heartbeat. We love that there were rooms that were still so moderately priced that also gave you access to the Executive Lounge.

Between the kind friendly people who worked there, the beautiful rooms, and the accessible location of the hotel, it’s a no-brainer. Definitely a great place to stay while in Bangkok.
